Final Project

Hi everyone,
So for my final project I decided to work on media for our composting program. I created a tri-fold brochure.
Here is the front.
Here is the inside.

The brochure is to help explain to commercial business's how are program works and the benefits of removing food scraps from the waste stream.
I also created a poster that explains in simple terms what can go into the compost bins and what cannot.
Here is the Yes/No poster.
The third item is a certificate to be given to the Businesses and Institutions that are participating in our food scrap collection program.
Here is our certificate.
Thanks this was a lot of fun.

Poster for a cause

Hi everyone,

So my chosen path at this point in my life is to teach the importance of Recycling/Composting your waste, rather than tossing it into the trash where it ends up in the landfill. Here is my image for this weeks assignment. I wanted to use no words but still convey a simple, strong message to my viewers.

How did I do?

Color

Here is my color wheel

I could not get it  to grab a screen shot. I will keep trying.
Here are my results anyway.
Online ColorIQ Challenge Results
Your score: 8
FM Hue Test Results
A lower score is better, with ZERO being the perfect score. The bars above show the regions of the color spectrum where hue discrimination is low.

Value

This week we had to create a collage out of textures that we saved from a previous assignment it had to be a representation of ourselves.
Not totally sure if I composed this correctly but here is a valued self image.

Illusion of Space and Illusion of Motion

My  first image is of Sky-Walk overlooking the Grand Canyon. I believe that it is a one point perspective image because although there are many points to draw you deep into the image the enormity of the open space below draws you down to the bottom of the image instead.
image obtain from here

My second image is a still from a soft drink commercial. I believe it shows both usage of Exaggerated Size as the man and dog would not fit where they are and the motion of the water being displaced from the containers.

My next image uses anticipated movement we all know what go's up must come down and cropping of the image to focus on the automobile.

Pattern and Texture

Here are my examples for this week enjoy, I did.
Marcus

Two examples of tree bark, hard bumpy rough texture is what comes to my mind.

Bread can be either soft or hard depending on preparation. The material is also very porous and can easily hold a favorite topping.

Half of an apple on its way to drying out.
A freshly sliced orange bursting with juice.

Hard and very prickly with all of the soldering points.

Hard but smooth to the point of reflection.

Types of hair differ greatly this hair would be soft, thick, dense, very curly, and possibly wiry all at the same time.

Full lips, luscious, plump, soft, and delicate a true masterpiece.

A spiders web both delicate and strong at the same time able to hold enormous weight and still be intact.

A leaf fresh from its tree still full of life, bursting with moisture will continue to provide for its cells as it slowly dies.

A large swirling pile of paint days will pass before it begins to congeal at its exposed surfaces.

Stone, hard and supportive, the very substance that holds us up as we plod along over this planets surface.

A cardboard chair and a babies pacifier two items with very specific and  limited purposes.

Here is my college and grayscale.
Thank you for taking the time to look,
Please exit through the giftshop,

Headshot

Hello Everyone,
Here is my photo. I'll start by saying that this photo was taken April 2010 on St. John in the US virgin islands. I chose this image because it was a very surreal type of adventure, this is right before we went snorkling out to that cay in the background. I feel this photo portrays me pretty well, although I do keep my hair more maintained most of the time. I am relaxed and tranquil, pondering what lies ahead, always seeking to explore new things off in the distance, all on island time.

Rhythm

I had a hard time selecting which sense to work with I finally chose sound.

Here are my four images describing sound
"Birdsong"
 A droplet of water falling.
"Silence"

The sounds of spring.

Here is my fifth design
It brings to mind, for me, all of the whistles and bangs and explosions, but also the stillness in between before the next cacophony of sound.

"Emphasis Assignment"

  •  For contrast I chose a screen shot from the movie Sweeney Todd. I believe the chair being red is meant to place the emphasis on Sweeney Todd.

  • For isolation I chose this photo of a single antelope in the desert next to a tree. I believe the feeling of isolation comes from the absence of other life.

  • So for placement I chose a simple ring of coffee mugs. The emphasis comes from the way the cups are positioned, in a ring, all handles in, evenly spaced.

  • I thought this was a good example of the one element emphasis because the focal point is the weave in the basket but then I thought that this could also be used as an absence of focal if you don't know what you are looking at. Right?

  • Absence of focal point - Andy Warhol's 100 CANS,  an image of 100 identical soup cans in a 10 X 10 pattern there is no one place to be drawn to.

Unity

Hello Everyone here are my examples of unity.
  • Proximity - Where I work we get a lot of bottles of all shapes and size in all sorts of colors.

  • Repetition (emphasis on similarity) - Every year we put on a bicycle swap were we take in bicycles that are no longer used or outgrown and fix them up to give away to anyone who wants a bicycle.

  • Repetition (emphasis on variety) - This walkway is unbelievably intricate all the different colors forming the patterns.

  • Continuation - I think this wall kind of drags your focus from right to left to see where it goes.

  • The grid as organizing factor -  grid-work or wire-frame allows me greater flexibility, more points of reference to keep my subject aligned and smaller areas to focus on.

  • An example of a chaotic, unreadable image - I consider fractal art  as a good example of a chaotic image

  • An example of a non-objective expression of unity

  • An example of a figurative expression of unity
